BAHABA members Evin Carson, far

two $50 dollar checks to Kate Sebelin of the Bar Harbor Food Pantry Dec. 16.
Bar Harbor — A contingent of leather-clad bikers on motorcycles roared into the
parking lot of the Bar Harbor Food Pantry Dec. 16 to present the organization
with two $50 donations.
According to Michael Hallet, road captain of the Bar Harbor Bikers Association,
the donation was a joint effort between BAHABA and the Hancock County chapter of
the United Bikers of Maine, with one $50 check coming from UBM and the other
coming from BAHABA.
The BAHABA donation was made from surplus funds that were raised by the club for
Angel Flight Northeast and the Beth Wright Cancer Center in Ellsworth during a
T-shirt sales drive at the July 4 fair at the Bar Harbor athletic field.
In other food pantry related news, the organization has launched a campaign to
collect non-food items such as paper towels, tissues, disposable diapers, baby
wipes, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, soap, etc. According to food
pantry representatives, such necessary, everyday items can quickly eat away at a
low-income family's budget.
Donations are being collected at sponsoring churches (Bar Harbor Congregational,
Church of Our Father, First Baptist, Holy Redeemer, and St. Saviour's) as well
as at the Jackson Laboratory, College of the Atlantic, Hannaford, and the YWCA.
For more information on donating items, contact Gail Leiser, chairwoman of the
Bar Harbor Food Pantry, at 288-9083.
We are now on face book.
Don't forget the monthly meetings!
